New Lawn  

1. PREP
Rake area to loosen the top layer of soil (approximately 2” deep) and remove any dead grass or debris, ensuring seed-to-soil contact.

2. APPLY
Apply using a Scotts® spreader.

3. RAKE
Lightly rake the seed into the soil to ensure seed is covered just beneath the soil surface. For best results, apply Scotts® Turf Builder® Starter® Food for New Grass.

4. WATER
Water daily to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings reach at least 2 inches tall.

 

Overseeding   

1. PREP
Mow lawn at the lowest setting and bag the clippings. Rake to remove debris, dead grass, and loosen the soil, ensuring seed-to-soil contact.

2. APPLY
Apply using a Scotts® spreader.

3. RAKE
Lightly rake the seed into the soil to ensure seed is covered just beneath the soil surface. For best results, apply Scotts® Turf Builder® Starter® Food for New Grass.

4. WATER
Water daily to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings reach at least 2 inches tall.

WHEN TO APPLY

Fall and spring are the best times to plant grass seed, because seed germinates best when temperatures are between 60°F and 80°F.
